Amidst
this pandemic, different issues start to grow.one of these problems is the
quality of education for learners and educators. The number of cases infected
with COVID-19 is still rising, the Department of Education was left with no
choice but to open classes last October 5. DepEd shifted to distance learning
because president Rodrigo Duterte didn’t approve the face-to-face classes.
There are lists of issues that DepEd is still facing.
1. Technology Access.
Online learning was one of the options for students. But many of them can’t
access the internet, and some of them can’t afford the technology for learning.
Hence, this problem raised a lot of concern among families.
2. Printing of Modules.
Most students resorted to modular learning, most especially the students who
couldn’t afford tools for online learning. But the printing of modules got
delayed because of insufficient budget and supplies.
3. The safety of teachers
and parents is distributing and retrieval of modules. Most parents are
concerned with their safety while retrieving and gathering modules. That’s why
safety protocols are strictly observed.
4. Budget. There were a few
adjustments from the budget.
5. Mental health of
students. Some students are now committing suicide because of distance
learning.
These
are the problems DepEd is still facing. We can’t wait for face-to-face classes
to happen. We can’t wait for the vaccine. But we have to be patient to
graduate. We don’t have a choice but to be patient until a vaccine comes to
light.
